Taking Active Learning Outside
Our Nature Camp will engage your children in wildlife and nature exploration. We will use the Project Learning Tree and the Growing up Wild curriculums. Activities will involve children directly exploring the outdoors using their five senses with nature walks, physical games, and other activities. Children who have opportunities to play and learn in nature are more likely to: handle challenges more capably, act responsibly toward the earth and each other, be more physically active and aware of nutrition, have a greater appreciation of the arts and become better-informed environmentally-aware adults. And, we will incorporate fun, water play, just because we should!

St. Francis Creche is located at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Great Falls, near the entrance to Great Falls National Park. If you are traveling on Georgetown Pike east from the Reston/Herndon area, our preschool is located on the left two miles east of the Great Falls Village Center. If you are traveling from the west, we are located four miles west of I-495/Capital Beltway on Georgetown Pike. The church is on the right just one-quarter mile west of the signal interchange at Georgetown Pike and River Bend Road.
Chapel service is held weekly at 10:15 am and is conducted by the clergy on Wednesdays and Mrs. Ruppe on Tuesdays. Students actively particpate in Chapel by helping as acolytes. Our Chapel service usually includes prayer, singing, and listening to a story from the Bible. We welcome parents to attend chapel with their children.
We sing songs such as God is so Good, Jesus Loves Me, We are Marching in the Light of God, God Made the Sun, This is the Day and He's Got the Whole World in His Hands.
We begin chapel in September with the story of Creation. Other chapel stories include St. Francis of Assisi, Noah and his Ark, Thanksgiving and the birth of Jesus. We talk a lot about how much God loves every child!
