Creche Preschool

St. Francis Creche is located on six beautiful acres of woods and open spaces at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Great Falls, VA. The facility and grounds offer a wonderful environment for a preschool. Our goals are to promote spiritual and Christian growth through participation in regular Chapel services. We offer developmentally appropriate educational experiences to facilitate physical, social and cognitive growth. We implement a theme based curriculum using literature, art and music to foster communication, creativity and problem solving skills in developmentally appropriate ways.

Our new Outdoor Classroom is open for play! This is a place where children can explore nature, walk across stumps and build with natural blocks/tree cookies. Studies suggest that direct exposure to nature is essential for a child's healthy physical and emotional development.

Recent parent testimonials included,

  • "So pleased! Our son has learned so much this year. The teachers are great and the classroom is wonderful and the whole staff is so friendly, and you all clearly love children!
  • "We love the Creche. It is a warm, caring and safe place. I am constantly amazed by the creative crafts and songs."
  • "Awesome! I am so impressed with the staff, the facilities – everything. This was our 4th preschool. It was the best, by a mile."

Exalting the Spirit

Franciscans told us in the parish survey that our music programs are a key strength of our church. This largely is due to the leadership of the program and the commitment and talent of our parishioners. The music program, which has been growing steadily for the past ten years, has two very experienced music directors who lead an adult choir of about 25 Franciscans. In addition to our adult choir, we have two choirs for children: The Joyful Noyz, composed of grade school children, lead the music at the 9:00 AM service and the pre-school Grace Notes choir offers their talent several times a year.

confirmands 2009 Learning and Growing in the Spirit….

From our youngest and most curious to our oldest and wisest, St. Francis offers a weekday program for preschoolers with its Creche Episcopal Preschool, Sunday morning Christian Education classes for young children and teenagers, Adult Forum discussions, and weekday Centering Prayer and Bible Study groups to expand the spirit and inform and nurture our lives.

We invite our children to join our junior choirs and acolyte staff, believing service and formation starts at Baptism.
